Bossanova & Mary Jane

Bossanova and Samba are best friends; they’ve most likely known each other since foals. I know their age because of the numerical branding on their cheeks and also know from the C2 branding on their hips that they were born at Santa Gertrudis, a breeding station the Mexican Army has maintained for well over a hundred years. As foals they were turned out into Chihuahua’s virtual desert to fend however they could. It was the law of natural selection that produced horses with these good endurance traits. They weren’t brought into training until 3 year-olds and the age of 15 the Ejercito Mexicano (Mexican Army) retired then sound. These horses have great minds, sound bodies, lots of spirit and are eager to transport riders at all paces all day long.

Bossanova is a top-ranking endurance horse in Mexico and has taken both Best Condition and 1st place prices in 60 km. competitions. Veteran endurance rider John Crandell III says, “Bossanova reminds me of the old Moyle horses - a rugged breed of horses that pulled the stagecoaches across America’s wild west.”
