Horseback Mexico’s equestrian vacations can be as short as overnight riding trips to as long as in-depth 10-day horse treks. With small riding groups limited to six participants the rides can be at a relaxed pace focused on cultural touring and nature, or for the experienced rider our fit endurance horses love to partner-up for safe yet exhilarating gallops through Oaxaca’s exotic countryside.
Within the state of Oaxaca, Horseback Mexico offers three distinct riding destinations in three unique ecosystems in this southern-most state in Mexico. With great riding weather year round we always have an insider’s equestrian vacation whenever you can get away. Mary Jane and Bobby specialize in instructional trail & endurance riding, novices are encouraged to come for an instructional riding vacation or experienced riders can compete in an endurance ride.
Our Valley & Foothills Ride based at our comfortable country guesthouse Rancho Pitaya is located in the broad eastern arm of the valley of Oaxaca. This ride is offered all year long; archeological sites, Zapotec villages & superb Oaxacan cuisine make this a tried-and-true keeper 12 months a year.
Our Sierra Juarez Ride features riding over ridges at 11,000. ft. and into deep valleys dotted with pristine villages. Remarkable changes in vegetation and breathtaking vistas distinguish this journey. Mid-February through May.
Descend into Oaxaca’s undiscovered La Cañada for our Canyon Ride. Towering cacti, red rock canyon, exotic flora, crystal blue water and rare green macaws await you on our newest ride. Swim with your horse. November through January.
